When the temperatures are consistently cold, an area of the park is flooded.

There will be a sign in the upper lot which states YES or NO to skating.

Millburn Par 3 Golf Course

Non-Resident Memberships – Online or Mail in Registration Procedures

The Millburn Township Recreation Department offers a limited number of Millburn Par 3 Golf Memberships to Chatham residents, age 13 and older.

Registration is first come, first serve and limited to 300 non-resident members. You may join by registering online at http://register.communitypass.net/millburn. You can complete your registration online and use your Photo ID Badge that was issued you in 2016. First time members in order to register online, must upload their photo to be eligible for program or can mail in completed application with a close up face color photo (jpg only) and your Photo ID Badge will be mailed to you. You can also email photo to photodoc@millburntwp.org.

The Millburn Par 3 is a 9 hole tree lined municipal course designed by noted golf course architect Hal Purdy that takes about an hour and 15 minutes to play. The course is located at 335 White Oak Ridge Rd. in Short Hills, NJ. Your round starts off with an easy downhill 90 yard hole, then two 125 yd. holes, a short 95 yd. hole over a brook, then three very challenging holes ranging from 150 to 175 yards. The eighth hole, 125 yards long, is guarded by a tree and a sand trap and the uphill 110 yard finishing 9th hole usually plays a club longer. A putting green is offered as well as a shaded deck with seating that overlooks the course.

Field Hockey

Field Hockey

The Chatham Youth Field Hockey program is open to Chatham residents in grades 3-8.

3RD AND 4TH GRADE
The 3/4 Grade program is an introductory clinic. It will run on the first 7 Saturdays of the school year.  We will cover the basic skills of the game and focus on safe play.  Each session will include a 45-minute skills portion followed by a  45-minute match to reinforce the lessons of the day.  Players will receive a reversible pinny on the first day. 

5TH AND 6TH GRADE
This is the recreational league for girls and boys entering 5th or 6th grade in the fall of 2020.  We will have practice on Wednesday evening and Saturday afternoon, and games on Sunday. There will be some travel involved, but not more than 30 miles from Chatham.  This league is appropriate for both experienced and novice players. Uniforms are required and may be purchased (further information on our website.)

7TH AND 8TH GRADE
This is the recreational league for girls and boys entering 7th or 8th grade in the fall of 2020.  We will have practice Wednesday evening and Saturday afternoon, and games on Sunday. There will be travel involved, but not more than 30 miles from Chatham.  The season will end with a championship tournament for the top 4 teams in the league.  This league is appropriate for both experienced and novice players.

Cross Country

Cross Country – Fall 2024

Registration will open July 18th on Community Pass – Register Fall.

Registration will close Sunday, August 4th.

The Chatham Recreation Cross Country team is a member of the Lakeland Junior Cross Country League, which is comprised of other teams from Morris County.  Meets are held on Sundays in September and October at Central Park of Morris County (formerly Greystone Park).

Eligible Chatham RESIDENT participants must be CURRENTLY in Grades 3-8. Children cannot be in Grade 2 or Grade 9.
Runners compete with others in the same age group.  
Practices will be held Mondays and Thursdays beginning August 26th.
It is possible practices could be at Loantaka County Park. We are waiting on a notification from them.
If not, then practice would be held in Chatham.

Grades 3-5 would practice from 4:30pm to 5:30pm and Grades 6-8 would practice from 5:30pm to 6pm.
Grades can only attend their grade practice time and not move to another time slot.
The time will be adjusted as it gets darker in the Fall.

Up to 150 participants will be taken and then a Wait List will begin. 
The registration fee is $150 per participant.
There are no refunds.

Chatham Youth Basketball Info

Youth basketball is offered to Chatham residents in 3rd through 8th grades.  Grades 3 through 6 are coached by parents, while the combined 7th/8th grade leagues are coached by Chatham High School players.  Sessions are held on Saturdays running from December – February. The sessions consist of a short practice followed by a game.

  • 3rd grade is an introductory and developmental league, with the early weeks of the season heavily focused on developing important fundamental skills.  Scrimmages and games are introduced as the season progresses. 
  • The 4th grade league introduces more organized games but without playoffs. 
  • The 5th/6th grade boys and girls leagues are more competitive, with standings and playoffs.  There are also a few modified rules to encourage balanced participation and skill development.   
  • The 7th/8th grade boys and girls program is the most competitive league, run by the CHS head coaches. Regular season games are on Saturday mornings.  Playoffs are weeknights and weekends at the end of February. Teams are coached by Chatham High School players, a Chatham tradition.
